The Annapurna Base Camp Trek, second popular treks in Nepal, offers a great introduction to rural Nepal and the high Himalayas.

There are very few treks that incorporates such a great geography and takes you to the base of 8,000m+ peak in such short time; without pushing your limits; like Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

This magnificent adventure goes through the rice paddies, alpine scenery and incredible rhododendron forests before entering into the area of majestic peaks that leave you spellbound with its tempting beauty.

A short yet scenic drive from Pokhara leads us to the trailhead at Nayapul. The trail goes through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest and climb the glacial Modi Khola Valley which carries melt water from the peaks above. On the way, we spend overnight at different village; perched on high ridge above the river.

The real climax is reached as we approach Annapurna Sanctuary where Machhapuchhre Base camp is followed by the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,550ft). At ABC, we will be surrounded by the immense wall of ices and rocks standing more than 4,000m/13,100ft above the hotel on the glacial moraine. The sunrise view is breathtaking.

The returning leg requires only three night; taking an alternative route with one night spending at Jhinu Danda. Here we soothe at natural hot spring which works as a magic on our tired muscles. A final short walk takes us to back to the road for the drive back to your hotel at Pokhara. Drive back along mid-hill geography to Kathmandu.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Best Time

Firstly, you should remember that Annapurna Base Camp Trek demands no climbing expertise and there are no technical climbing sections.

With some preparations and average fitness, anyone can enjoy this trek regardless of their size, age and sex.

Well; after having said that, there are some factors that you should consider – like altitude and length

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Altitude – 4,130m

Without doubt, the most difficult aspect of Annapurna Base Camp Trek is its altitude. The trek starts from Nayapul (1,000m) and you will gain 3,000m to reach the Base Camp at 4,130m. Walking at high altitude and remote places is not easy and the weather and temperature variations are very frequent here.

Also make sure that your Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary allows for proper acclimatization. We suggest you to walk on a gradual pace to avoid altitude related sickness.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Distance – 115 km

The trek starts after arriving Nayapul from Kathmandu. Here your 115km trip to Annapurna Base Camp starts (round trip).

115km might not bother the experienced trekkers but if you are novice – it would definitely create some challenge.

On this itinerary, you will walking for 6 – 7 hours a day; uphill and downhill, covering 15 – 18 km a day.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Best Season

The best time of the year for Annapurna Base Camp Trek is spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November). During this time, the weather is comfortable and the views are clearer. There is very less chance of rainfall and the vegetation is lush in entire trekking route.

  • Views of the world’s highest mountains: Dhaulagiri I (7th) and Annapurna I (10th).
  • Visit the inner sanctuary of Annapurna panoramic views of 10 peaks over 6000m
